Hello. I am GOTOO Hitosi, professor emeritus of linguistics at Tohoku University. I have rather broad interests in various fields of linguistics, but my specialties lie in the fields of:
For various reasons my name is sometimes spelled as "Hitoshi Goto". I don't always raise an objection to this: I myself sometimes have to write this way. I prefer, however, my name to be written "GOTOO Hitosi", and please note that Japanese distinguishes long and short vowels and the first "o" in my family name is short and the second is long.
Esperanto is a planned international language. It facilitates communication among people with different cultural backgrounds. It is international, neutral and easy to use.
